One of the most crucial aspects of the natural world is how important biodiversity is for a healthy ecosystem. This is because a more robust and complex habitat can provide the different conditions to suit the special needs of a variety of species. The same can be said of our own society!
A diverse community encourages acceptance, personal growth, critical thinking, harmony as well creativity and innovation. These are all traits that can help create a more resilient, connected, and stronger community.
To celebrate Pride, we came together with the LGBTQ+ Partnership to create #WilderPride. We wanted to give everyone in Gloucestershire the opportunity to grow wildflowers that reflect the colours of the pride flag.
Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust have provided over 400 wildflower plug plants to people in Gloucestershire. As well as individuals in the community wanting to take part, we have helped a variety of groups to create their very own wildflower meadows to represent the pride flag.
If you have collected a plug plant from us, don’t forget to post pictures of your progress - tell us how you’re finding the experience and what nature and pride means to you. When sharing your WilderPride progress on social media, use the hashtags #WilderPride #WilderGlos and tag @Gloswildlife.
