Work experience is a great opportunity for young people to learn about a particular job or an area of work, and a week with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust is a great way to develop skills while learning more about wildlife.
We offer challenging and enjoyable work experience placements for year 10 students. Each week includes the opportunity to experience working with a variety of the teams, from Land Management to Communications. It's an chance to learn about working life, get hands-on experience in a potential career path and identify skills and passions.
In 2022 and 2023, students got involved in land management across the county, delivered sessions with the learning team, supported the membership team, maintained wildlife gardens, learned skills like practical wildlife identification and reserve condition monitoring, created social media content and more. As part of their week, a number of students aimed to inspire three different wild actions that you can complete with WilderGlos. Discover how to build a bird box with Barry and Katie, a wildlife pond with Kiana and Alfie and explore the meadows of Robinswood Hill.
At present our work experience programme is only open to young people in year 10.

This experience has been extremely valuable and helped me to understand and learn about the different types of work that Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust do that have a positive impact on nature.
I thoroughly enjoyed my work experience (at Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust) and I also made friends with all the other peers also doing work experience with me.
