Restoring Our Future

What was Restoring Our Future?

Restoring Our Future was a two-year project, funded by the Ernest Cook Trust which allowed Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust to work with five primary schools each year. Each year, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust delivered a free, year-long programme of activities on school sites designed to enable pupils to learn about and benefit from being in nature and to support schools in developing their outdoor learning curriculum.

The aims of Restoring Our Future

  1. Increased nature connectedness in children.
  2. Increased pro-nature and pro-environmental behaviours in children.
  3. Increase teacher confidence in their ability to continue to deliver outdoor learning focused on these values.
  4. Embedded outdoor learning, including a focus on taking action for the natural world.

Before the sessions I was very hesitant to teach in the outdoors as I did not know what kind of content to teach. Now I am fully equipped to deliver a session.
Mr Wellington, Linden Primary School
