The plans include the creation of an indoor café and a visitor centre area displaying information about Robinswood Hill. There will be dedicated facilities for the dozens of people who volunteer with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust each week and improvements to the facilities available for the school groups. In addition, community spaces will be available for hire.
Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust will continue to share the site with the Gloucester City Council countryside rangers who maintain the park and other sites around the city.
Local residents have provided feedback about the plans developed by Childs+Sulzmann Architects, which have now been submitted for planning approval.
Roger Mortlock, CEO of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust says, “Over the past few years we’ve been asking local people and visitors to Robinswood Hill how they would like to see facilities improve. An indoor café and flexible community space all ranked highly, so it will be great to see these plans deliver improvements for the 50,000 people who visit each year.”
The £950,000 project is being funded through a range of sources including £200,000 from Gloucester City Council and £150,000 from Grundon Waste Management, a long-term supporter of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.
The plans are available to view at gloucestershirewildlifetrust.co.uk and at Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s offices at Robinswood Hill (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm). Local residents with queries or comments can email info@gloucestershirewildlifetrust.co.uk
