About the event

Hearing about Eelscapes, you may be conjuring up images of eels dominating the landscape? In a way they once did as they were so abundant in Gloucestershire, now they are critically endangered and urgently need our support. But the Eelscapes project is so much more than eels.

The River Severn's natural floodplain has been drastically altered by humans over hundreds of years. And the vision of Eelscapes is to return these floodplains to a more natural condition by developing a range of carefully targeted conservation actions . Examples include changes to ditch networks, creating ponds and water features, and working with land-owners to change their farming practices.

Ben Spencer, Eelscapes Stakeholder Adviser, will share with us how Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, WWT, the Environment Agency and 22 local are working together to develop a network of connected wetland sites along the Severn Vale corridor and what this means for wildlife and people.

Tickets are available now for Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust Members (If you've not received details of how to do so please contact us) while booking opens to the general public at 1.30pm on  the 15th of April

We expect this event to be popular so get your tickets while you can. (It will also be available via Livestream at Facebook. for those who can't attend)
