Roots for a Wilder Future

What is Roots for a Wilder Future?

Roots for a Wilder Future is a three-year project designed to build on learning from the successful Restoring Our Future project which finished in 2023.

Roots for a Wilder Future is funded by the Ernest Cook Trust and will allow Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust to work with five primary schools each year delivering a free programme of activities on school sites designed to enable pupils to learn about and benefit from being in nature and to support schools in developing their outdoor learning curriculum.

The aims of Roots for a Wilder Future

1) Increased nature connectedness in children in target primary schools.

2) Increased pro-nature and pro-environmental behaviours in children in target primary school.

3) Improve wellbeing of children through time in nature

4) Increased teacher confidence in their ability to continue to deliver outdoor learning focused on increasing pro-nature and pro-environmental behaviours in primary aged children.
